Noah’s Ark according to Biblical records was approximately 2800 BCE. The earliest known pyramid at Saqqara is thought to have been built around 2630 BCE.

Key Issue

In the 170 year potential gap between the Flood and the oldest pyramid being built, how was the population growth sufficient to support the manpower required to build it?

Egyptian Cultural Practices straddle the Flood

According to History.Com From the beginning of the Dynastic Era (2950 B.C.), royal tombs were carved into rock and covered with flat-roofed rectangular structures known as “mastabas,” which were precursors to the pyramids.

Key Issue

How likely is it that a nation of people that created royal tombs in Egypt, maintained the same labour intensive traditions, post flood? Egyptus, wife of Ham, would presumably be the driving force. She would have to persuade Ham to trek back to the Nile valley and have their family reproducing at an extraordinary rate.

LDS Observation

In Old Testament studies, Sunday School classes, published materials, etc. Why isn’t anyone considering the implications of the Flood dates and making faith promoting statements about them being logistically possible? The church position seems to be, if it’s in the Bible (true as far as translated correctly) then why should we need to question it’s authenticity. I never had the imagination to consider comparing Bible timelines with secular history. How I wish I had sooner!
