2015 Handbook Policy

The “natural or adopted” children of parents in same-sex relationships — whether married or cohabiting — cannot be blessed as babies, baptized or ordained into the priesthood (if they are male), nor can they serve as missionaries

They (children) can join the church after age 18, but only if they move out of their parents’ home, disavow same-sex unions and receive permission from the church’s top leadership, the First Presidency.

“Same-gender marriage” was added to a list of conditions considered apostasy and grounds for excommunication

2019 Policy Changes

Children of parents who identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender may now be blessed as infants and baptized.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that it was reversing its controversial 2015 policy that classified people in same-sex marriages as “apostates.”

Doctrinal Changes?

A doctrine is a belief that is held or taught. Pres Dallin Oaks said “While we cannot change the Lord’s doctrine, we want our members and our policies to be considerate of those struggling with the challenges of mortality,”

Observations

If the church is lead by revelation, shouldn’t the spirit have warned against this policy in 2015 or is the church quite clear about it’s position. 2015 was the work of man, 2019 was a revelation counter acting the work of man!

If you label a type of behaviour as ‘apostate’, isn’t that a doctrine of belief, in so far as you condemn someone. If you renounce that condemnation, then aren’t you changing doctrine on this point?
